Same thing here. Opening documentation viewer crashes Xcode. Beta 6 is fine.
I got the same issue, and my Xcode is a release version...
Xcode Version 12.0 (12A7209) --> The GM version Download from developer.apple.com/download works fine.

Xcode Version 12.0 (12A7208) --> App Store version, failed.
Yes I'm also having same issue on two different mac. One running Big Sur and another Catalina.
Same issue here running Xcode Version 12.0 (12A7209), updated from Mac App Store on Catalina 10.15.6.
Upgraded on second MacBook Pro to Xcode Version 12.0 (12A7209) from Mac App Store on Catalina 10.15.6 — same issue as on first: Xcode crashes when selecting Developer Documentation from the Window menu. No project needs to be open to reproduce the crash.

I'm seeing it too with the Appstore version 12A709.

I have reported it to Apple via the feedback form. Suggest other people do too.
Same situation here. Opening the documentation window crashes the IDE.
  • Using Xcode 12.0 (12A7209) AppStore.

  • Running on Big Sur Public Beta 6 (20A5364e)

No issue here (with version 12A7208).

I note others here have version 12A7209…
This seems to be affecting the App Store version only. I had the GM (209) installed from before, and the documentation viewer works fine there. It also seems to be fine in the recently released Xcode 12.2 Beta 1.
Me too. Version 12.0 (12A7209). Delete and reinstall of Xcode did not help.
same here…… so sad

@josh112 — This seems to be affecting the App Store version only. I had the GM (209) installed from before, and the documentation viewer works fine there.

Many of the issues reported in this topic are against the same version, 12A7209, so it might not be related to the delivery method (App Store).

Has anyone tried uninstalling the failing version and reinstalling from the GM instead of from the App Store?
I had this problem and tested it... Xcode build 12A7209 from the App Store crashes whenever I open the documentation browser. Xcode build 12A7208 from the download 'Xcode_12_GM_seed.xip' works fine. Just throw this on the pile of problems with the App Store I guess =)

Because the downloads section is kind of hidden, here's how to find it: On the developer site go to your account, choose 'Downloads' from the sidebar, then look under the top navigation bar on the downloads page and there is a tiny 'More' link in the top left (next to 'Beta' and 'Release'.) Click 'More' and you'll get the real list of downloads.
