AppleRAID JBOD stuck. Can't expand partition and also remove device.

Hi.

First, I created AppleRAID JBOD using two 8TB hdd. (choose APFS filesystem and generated single 16TB container.)

Then, I tried to added another hdd drives. But, diskutility apps says 'Operation is failed because can't expand volume'. However, new drive is already joined JBOD members.

So, I can't expand container volume and also can't remove new JBOD member drive.

Is there solution?
  • This is my appleRAID info. And the result when I tried to remove devices.

I’m having this exact same issue except that my JBOD set is 37TB. Really need a fix Apple!!!

I need help here, I have a "failed" disk (it was working about 5 minutes ago) in a JBOD config. I am trying to remove it so I can continue to use my disks, but it says that the removing process has failed for an internal state error occurred. I tried doing it from the Recovery Partition, and from 10.12 Sierra. I can't even delete the entire RAID set.

2011 MacMini 2.3 GHz i5 8GB Ram Internal HDD1: 512GB SSD Internal HDD2: 240GB SSD High Sierra 10.13.6

Just had the same problem, with some non-critical data loss

Now experiementing with some empty, non-critical disks

It seems that the problem is with APFS. It just doesn't work well with JBOD resizing.

With JHFS+ I was able to go from 2 disks to 5 then back to 2.

What a bummer that there's no testing/documentation of APFS incompatibility with Apple RAID (specifically JBOD)
