"Couldn't communicate with helper application"

My 2013 MacBook Pro computer died but I had all my files on iClould One Drive. But now, with my new MacBook Pro when I see a file that I had saved before on the iCloud drive, there is a little cloud symbol with a down error and a couple of people icons next to it. But when I try to open any file I get the error statement: "Couldn't communicate with the helper application". How can I access those files?

  • Obviously I do not have a reply. I am waiting for a reasonable answer to solve this problem myself. What does Apple Developer have to say by way of a solution?

Good morning David. I am running into this same issue with iCloud, communication with helper application message, inability to open a file, etc on my 2023 MacBook Pro. I am interested to know if you ever found a resolution to this issue? I look forward to your response. Thanks in advance.
