13.3.1 crashes machine when connecting to Logitech tap Ingest

Currently upgraded to mac os 13.3.1, issue happens on beta 13.4 and 13.3, and when I connect my machine to the (this is video conferencing system running on android) logitech Tap HDMI ingest my computer crashes.

Before we start looking at the logitech Ive done the following:

  • new hdmi cable
  • tested on different video conferencing rooms with the same setup
  • updated soft/firm ware for both the camera and he tap

This issue does not occur on 13.2 as I have tested same model machine (2020 13in M1) and I have tried different apple certified HDMI adapters as well as 3rd party.

Seeing same issue with one of our users as well. We are seeing this with MacBook Pro 16 running MacOS 13.3.1.

Device crashes within 2 seconds of being connected to HDMI Ingest connected to Logitech Tap device. Have reproduced the issue in 3 different conference rooms with same setup.

Different HDMI cables have been tried. Bypassing the Logitech Tap and plugging HDMI directly into TV has no issues. Only crashes seem to happen with the Logitech Tap.

Below is beginning of crash report as well:

  • Strange that no one has really responded to this but someone had pointed me to the HDCP.

  • Seeing this issue now spread to other users in our organization.

Have now encountered 4 additional users with Macbooks running MacOS 13.3 experience issues connecting to the HDMI injest connected to the Logitech Tap.

These users do not experience a full on crash, but the Macbook is not working with the connection.

Another user that is still on MacOS 13.2, can connect to the HDMI inject without any issues.

We were able to determine a fix for this issue. Required installing Logitech Sync Portal on the device running the room. We then updated the HDMI firmware on the Logitech Tap to 1.1.29 and the crashing/not displaying issue cleared up for all users.

Release notes for this firmware update specifically calls out this issue.

  • Fixes an HDMI content sharing issue with M1 and M2 Macs on MacOS 13.3
  • Fixes a crash in M1 and M2 Macs running MacOS 13.3 where users were brought back to MacOS login screen after plugging into Tap HDMI ingest

Hi @Mira123

How exactly do we do this because we've updated to the latest software on the logitech meetings tap and its still a problem for users with mac book airs but not Pros.

Does logitech sync portal need to be on the mac book air or just the Logitech tap? Should we replace our hdmi cable that runs from the tap to the Air?

thank you
