Hi, I am using macOS Sonoma 14.5 and the latest version of Xcode (15.4). Every time I open Xcode, it asks me to install additional components. I accept, but when it finishes, the same dialog appears again. I've done this multiple times. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Xcode, but no luck. Can you please help me?

Starting on Xcode 15.3 and 15.4 my SwiftUI Previews stopped working with the following error: == PREVIEW UPDATE ERROR:     LinkDylibError: Failed to build ContentView.swift          Linking failed: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)          ld: warning: search path '/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/SharedFrameworks-iphonesimulator' not found     Undefined symbols for architecture arm64:       "static MyLibrary.DisplayUtil.getText() -> Swift.String", referenced from:           closure #1 () -> SwiftUI.Text in (extension in Demo_Broken_Preview_PreviewReplacement_ContentView_1):Demo_Broken_Preview.ContentView.(__preview__body in _1BA320C8FB5388C953E1E463345C3D72).getter : some in ContentView.1.preview-thunk.o       "type metadata accessor for MyLibrary.DisplayUtil", referenced from:           closure #1 () -> SwiftUI.Text in (extension in Demo_Broken_Preview_PreviewReplacement_ContentView_1):Demo_Broken_Preview.ContentView.(__preview__body in _1BA320C8FB5388C953E1E463345C3D72).getter : some in ContentView.1.preview-thunk.o     ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture arm64     clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation) After much trial and error, I narrowed it down to my SwiftUI views using properties or functions inside components in Swift Packages. This is a simple example of my Swift Package: public class DisplayUtil {     public func getText() -> String {         return "Text"     }          public static func getText() -> String {         return "Text"     } } And my SwiftUI View import SwiftUI import MyLibrary struct ContentView: View {     var body: some View {         VStack {             Text(DisplayUtil.getText())         }         .padding()     } } #Preview {     ContentView() } The same code works fine on Xcode 15.2 Link to the sample project: https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/0c00AD0esi2PwqqiRggokfwGw#Demo%5FBroken%5FPreview Is anybody else having a similar issue?

Hi There, I have a strange problem: the Swift package cannot be added to my iOS project. The problem might be due to the project settings, but despite trying for a long time, I still haven't been able to figure it out. My project is a React Native project and uses CocoaPods. When I drop the Swift package into my React Native project, the package becomes a folder. When I drop the Swift package into other iOS projects, it works without any problems. If I try to use "Package Dependencies" to add the Swift package, it gets stuck on "Preparing to validate..." My project seems unable to add any Swift packages; it cannot add other Swift packages either. The Swift package is local. However, it works fine in other projects, even in newly created React Native projects. The problem might be with my project itself, but I have no idea where to check now. please guide me with any advice, I will appreciate it!

Problem Statement: Unable to import .h file from an ObjC SPM to a .h file in an ObjC file in a framework with mix of ObjC and Swift code The issue is: in order to support access of ObjC file in Swift code in a framework we need to use umbrella header (in place of bridging header). Once the file is imported in Umbrella header and made public it will no longer allow import of .h file from package in its interface Project Structure: a. Package: ObjCPackage ObjCPackage |- Package.swift |- ObjCPackage MathsUtilities.h (class interface) MathsUtilities.m (class implementation) NiceLogs.h (protocol) b. Project: ObjCSwiftFramework ObjCSwiftFramework |- ObjCSwiftFramework.h (umbrella header) |- Calculation.h (objc class interface) |- Calculation.m (objc class implementation) |- SwiftCalci.swift (swift class) Details: #import <ObjCSwiftFramework/Calculation.h> added in ObjCSwiftFramework.h as Calculation has to be used in SwiftCalci Calculation.h marked as public in target membership in Xcode so that it can be added in umbrella header ObjCSwiftFramework.h #import "NiceLogs.h" in Calculation.h gives error Here is a small sample which I created to demonstrate the problem: ObjCSwiftFramework

Hello. My game, which I have been preparing for a long time on Unity, has been completed. But I have a big problem. My game is a game focused on constantly drawing lines. For this reason, I need to draw lines in the safe area at the bottom of the iPhone. However, due to the shortcuts on the iPhone, my game is constantly put in the background or switched to another application. Since there are so many levels in my game, it is almost impossible to redesign the levels and since I am a game with lines drawn, I will always have this problem again. What I want is to cancel the shortcut to switch to another application and put it in the background when I swipe from left to right or right to left when my game opens. When my game opens, the priority is on the lines in my game. I also marked the defer system gestures on edges section on Unity for postponement, but it did not help. Also, postponing it will not solve the problem. For example, they disabled these shortcuts in the (mini metro) game and you can never use these shortcuts in the game. I did a lot of research on forum sites and chatgpt and tried different codes, but I couldn't find a solution. Can you help me with this? When my game is opened, I want to prevent and cancel the transition to another application by drawing a line left and right in the safe area section at the bottom and the game from being placed in the background. I would be very happy if you could help me with a hint or a code on what to do.

I already filed feedback FB13777941 for this, but wanted to ask if anyone has the same problem, since I can't find anything on google or SO. I created a new package in Xcode (15.3) and added this to it: import SwiftUI struct Test: View { var body: some View { Text("Hello world") } } #Preview { Test() } The package builds, tests can run. Previews don't work. This is more or less the error I get from the diagnostics button (formatted for readability): LoadingError: failed to load library at path ”PATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PackageFrameworks/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct”: Optional(dlopen(PATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PackageFrameworks/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct, 0x0000): tried: 'PATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct' (no such file), 'PATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PackageFrameworks/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct' (mach-o file, but is an incompatible architecture (have 'arm64', need 'arm64e')), '/System/Volumes/Preboot/Cryptexes/OSPATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PackageFrameworks/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct' (no such file), 'PATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PackageFrameworks/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct' (mach-o file, but is an incompatible architecture (have 'arm64', need 'arm64e')), 'PATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/Versions/A/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct' (no such file), 'PATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PackageFrameworks/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/Versions/A/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct' (mach-o file, but is an incompatible architecture (have 'arm64', need 'arm64e')), '/System/Volumes/Preboot/Cryptexes/OSPATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PackageFrameworks/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/Versions/A/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct' (no such file), 'PATH_TO_DERIVED_DATA/Build/Intermediates.noindex/Previews/macos/PACKAGE_NAME/Products/Debug/PackageFrameworks/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct.framework/Versions/A/PACKAGE_NAME_63097C4A372B9C87_PackageProduct' (mach-o file, but is an incompatible architecture (have 'arm64', need 'arm64e'))) I don't remember ever having this problem. The arm64 vs arm64e makes no sense to me - why would Xcode get that wrong... and only for previews? I've tried restarting, deleting derived data, the usual rain dances. Any ideas?

On versions iOS 14+, my app which is connected by bluetooth to another device will become slow to write information. This isn't a couple hundred ms or a second or two, but upwards of 10 minutes for it to be sent and then 400 ms to be processed by the device and send its response back. I've confirmed with PacketLogger and with system logs that what commands we are sending with .writeValue are taking over 10 minutes. This is the timestamp of when we are writing to the device This is the PacketLogger timestamp of when the phone actually wrote to our device This doesn't occur immediately, but is intermittent and once it does begin to occur, there's nothing to do to get out of it except for connecting once again to the device. Which, overtime, the issue begins to spring up again. So why is it taking 13 minutes for it to go through the phone and finally being sent?

I just purchased a new M3 chip MacBook Air a little after it came out. I was able to create and deploy an iOS application. However, now that I am trying to create a new project Xcode throws an error upon launch. Steps to recreate the error (if possible) Open Xcode Select create new app An error is where the preview should be. At this point I have added no code. It is all boiler plate from Apple.

I'm trying to add a Swift Package to my project, which is hosted on Azure Devops. I only have HTTPS access to Azure Devops, but I am able to connect with it using Git on the CLI and use my PAT in the header, etc. However, if I want to add this repo as a dependency for my project, XCode does not seem to support this. When adding the https-URL as a dependency, I get the option to authenticate using: Username / Password Github enterprise account Gitlab self-hosted Bitbucket Server I've tried all of them of course, but none of them work, either by throwing "authentication failed" issues, etc. Is it even possible to have (private) Swift Packages on an Azure Devops server and use those in XCode? Or am I forced to use local dependencies (I'd rather don't do that, because then I cannot fix them on a tag / branch / commit, etc.)? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Since Xcode 15.3 it has become impossible to build our project more twice in a row without encountering a batch of "internal inconsistency error: never received target ended message for target ID …". This issues appeared a few months ago (15.0 i think, but i'm not sure), but xcode 15.3 makes it almost unusable. We're a team of 3 iOS devs, and we're all having the problem. Our project involves a lot of SPM packages, a few cocoa pods, a few iOS Frameworks, and a bit of swiftgen. Nothing particularly special for a large project, and no custom build steps that does anything fancy. It is now to the point where we're looking for alternative to xcode, because we can't decently kill xcode and restart every time we have to build our code...

Greetings everyone, first of all I apologize to everyone for the long question I am going to ask, but I thought it would be better to tell you my question and what I am working on to solve it. You may have heard about Apple's new Privacy Manifest requirement for new apps to be released to the app store. After I heard about it, I made a list of all dependencies used in my project and then updated them to the versions that include the Privacy Manifest file. Since I only use UserDefaults in my project, which is one of the required reason APIs specified by Apple, I added it and my reason for using it in the Privacy Manifest file. When I released a package with this development, I received a new notification email from Apple saying that while they used to be upset with me about UserDefaults, they are no longer, so it seems that Apple has accepted my reason for using UserDefaults in the application. However, Apple was also upset about Required Reason APIs in this list that I don't actually use (e.g. SystemBootTime API, DiskSpace API, FileTimestamp API). I thought about what could be causing this. First of all, it could be that one of the dependencies I use didn't specify the Required Reason API in the Privacy Manifest file or specified it incorrectly. However, I didn't think this was likely because I'm using common dependencies (e.g. Firebase, Alamofire, Lottie, etc.) and I didn't find any issues in the repos for them. Then it occurred to me that we have a binary dependency embedded statically in the project. I looked at the repo of this dependency and in the latest versions they added the Privacy Manifest file, but they added an empty privacy manifest file. This SDK is actually a service that we bought as a company. Therefore, I don't think there will be a problem. If they don't use Required Reason API, I think it can't be the cause of the mail. Nevertheless, our Business Analysts will contact the SDK owners. Then I realized that although it is on the list of SDKs that Apple requires to include a privacy manifest, I could not update it. This is nanopb. Actually, this is not a direct dependency of mine, but it is a dependency of Firebase. Like nanopb, there are other packages that are dependent on Firebase and are listed by apple (e.g. abseil, Promises, GTMSessionFetcher etc.) These are included as SPMs in the Package.swift file of Firebase that I have added to my project, with specific version ranges. If I update it, I get the latest version of the appropriate SPM version. For example promises were added for Firebase 10.16.0 as follows. The previous version did not have the Privacy Manifest. So I updated it to 2.4.0 by doing Project Navigator > Package Dependencies > Update To Latest Package Versions on Xcode. .package( url: “https://github.com/google/promises.git”, “2.1.0” ..< “3.0.0” ), This version included the Privacy Manifest, which solved my problem. But for nanopb the situation is as follows and no version of nanopb provides Privacy Manifest. I'm not even sure if there is a version of nanopb like the one below. .package( url: “https://github.com/firebase/nanopb.git”, “2.30909.0” ..< “2.30910.0” ) When I did some research on the issue, I came across something like this. The Google developer wrote “This bug can be closed because this repo does not release a binary distro of nanopb for Apple platforms.” in response to the issue. But as a non-native English speaker, I don't understand this explanation. As a result, Apple stated in the mail that I was using these Required Reason APIs (I will give an example of the mail below). I tried to find it even though it was not the case. Three possibilities came to my mind and I thought about these possibilities. Finally, I decided to consult you What do you think is causing this (is it widely used sdk's that do not specify or incorrectly specify the reason for using required reason api's? is it static library? is it nanopb?) Is there any way to see Apple's evaluation in this notification email without releasing the package? Will I test whether I have fixed this or not by constantly releasing packages? Any comments will be very appreciated. Thank you very much in advance for all your comments and answers! Email (Consider that the equivalent exists in the SystemBootTime API and DiskSpace API below.): ITMS-91053: Missing API declaration - Your app’s code in the “MyAppName” file references one or more APIs that require reasons, including the following API categories: NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryFileTimestamp. While no action is required at this time, starting May 1, 2024, when you upload a new app or app update, you must include a NSPrivacyAccessedAPITypes array in your app’s privacy manifest to provide approved reasons for these APIs used by your app’s code. For more details about this policy, including a list of required reason APIs and approved reasons for usage, visit: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/privacy_manifest_files/describing_use_of_required_reason_api

I have a package stored on iCloud Drive and want to list it as a dependency in another package. This worked fine when the package was stored on the Mac hard drive, but moving it to iCloud seems to cause a problem. dependencies: [ .package(url: "file:///Users/bill/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/Projects/Matrix", from: "0.0.1") ], This results in an Xcode error message: x-xcode-log://812C74F5-B7CA-4E15-A87C-E6C9586B0926 /Users/bill/Library/Mobile%20Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/Projects/Matrix: The source control operation failed because the specified URL cannot be used. Make sure the URL is valid and try again. Can anyone advise how to make the URL valid, or is storing the package on iCloud Drive not yet possible?

Hello, I have been developing a Swift package and importing it into other projects. When I import the package into a project and check the execution times of some package functions, I notice slow execution times. However, if I add the source files of the package directly into the project and run the same test functions, then the whole module optimization achieves amazing run times, which are tens of times faster. The package heavily uses generics, and the project is a command line project. I would like to ask if there is a proper way to edit project build settings and the package.swift so that the compiler performs cross-module optimization and achieves hopefully similar run times with the whole-module optimization case. Some previous posts indicated the use of -cross-module-optimization and SWIFT_CROSS_MODULE_OPTIMIZATION, and I tried them in numerous places in the project target build settings with no success. I also added this Swift setting to the package.swift: swiftSettings: [ .unsafeFlags(["-cross-module-optimization"], .when(configuration: .release)) ] but it didn't lead to faster run times. I appreciate any comments/help. Thanks.

Hey! I noticed a difference between Xcode 15.2 and 15.3 which causes our production build to fail verification with Apple. This happens with one Swift Package which has xcframeworks as binary targets. There is no issue when exporting the app using Xcode 15.2, as the frameworks are not exported into the Frameworks folder within the app package when inspecting the exported archive. With Xcode 15.3 it is exported which then causes the following error: 2024-03-11 13:53:03.520 *** Error: ERROR: [ContentDelivery.Uploader] Asset validation failed (90208) Invalid Bundle.
