Updating notarized app distributed out side the app store

What is the way to update notarized app distributed outside the MAC Appstore in .zip format?

You can let users download the update in a new zip (actually, DMG is preferred) or use an automatic update mechanism like the very popular Sparkle

  • Sparkle is a third-party App. I want to know how a single bundle MACOS app placed in the Application directory updated itself. Can you please guide me on this?
