Hi everyone, is it possible to launch my app for free first and then convert it to freemium with in-app purchases? Since I currently have very little content in my app, I want to focus on releasing it for free and collecting user feedback first. Afterwards, I want to convert it to freemium. Is there such a possibility?
Yes absolutely, this is quite common with app maturity or simply a change in your business model.
You can leverage originalApplicationVersion and originalPurchaseDate in the appTransaction so you can differentiate between what version/business model your app was when a customers purchased/acquired your app.
Strongly consider the users experience for those first customers and the new customers - and communicating this change in advance so customers are not caught off guard or even deterred from updating the app.
